Every year, the design of the iPhone evolves, sometimes significantly, sometimes subtly. According to reports, the apple iPhone 16 pro will come in the latter type.

The addition of new buttons on both models is one of the most anticipated changes. Otherwise, the base model may get a new camera module, and the Pro variant may get a slightly larger screen. We won’t know for sure until September what the iPhone 16 actually does because Apple hasn’t acknowledged or confirmed any of these rumors.
The design of the iPhone has not changed much over the past few years, with the exception of the titanium construction of the iPhone 15 Pro and the color-infused glass of the iPhone 15. Beginning with the iPhone 14 in 2022, it also eliminated the SIM card slot from new iPhones sold in the US, forcing consumers to switch to electronic SIM cards. Perhaps the most significant redesign, however, occurred in 2020, when Apple began producing iPhones with rounded sides, beginning with the iPhone 12.
The Apple iPhone 16 Pro might have a new rear camera.
As per MacRumors, Apple might rearrange the camera configuration on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. Both phones are expected to include vertically stacked cameras, just like the iPhone 12.
It’s unclear why Apple would explicitly move the cameras on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. However, 91Mobiles, a site claiming to have access to design designs for the phones, predicts that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will continue to have the same camera bulge.
According to CNET’s review, Apple claimed that by switching from a vertical to a diagonal configuration beginning with the iPhone 13, it was able to put a larger module in the device. It’s possible that the cameras can now be positioned differently to accommodate the iPhone 16’s sensor, but for now, this is just conjecture.
The iPhone 16’s action and camera capture buttons:
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the iPhone 16 will apparently have a dedicated button for taking video, however, it’s unclear if this feature will be available on all phones or just the Pro models. According to Bloomberg, Apple is anticipated to add the Action button to every iPhone 16 model at the same time. As per MacRumors, both buttons will have capacitive features.
Currently limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, the Action button can be used as a shortcut to activate the camera or enable Do Not Disturb, among other functions. This year, I hope Apple does more than just bring the Action button to the regular iPhone—I hope it does more. For instance, as my colleague Patrick Holland notes, there could be a lot of opportunities if several presses could initiate distinct activities.
Bigger iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max sizes:
The screen size of the iPhone Pro hasn’t changed in years, but it might soon. Larger screens are anticipated for the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max versions, as per reports from Bloomberg, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, MacRumors, and Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO Ross Young.
At present, the dimensions of the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches, respectively. The screen on the Pro might measure 6.2 or 6.3 inches, while the screen on the Max could measure 6.8 or 6.9 inches, if the rumors from Young and MacRumors turn out to be accurate. It might not seem like much of a difference. However, even a modest amount of an inch can have a significant impact on a gadget the size of a phone.
Since releasing the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max in 2020, Apple has not changed the size of the screen on its Pro Max iPhone.
Replaces the 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Pro Max. That year, the Pro model was also increased in size, to 6.1 inches, up from 5.8 inches on the iPhone 11 Pro.
There are 16 available colors for iPhones:
If reports are to be believed, Apple may provide a handful of additional color options for the iPhone 16 Pro. According to a leak on the Chinese social network Weibo, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max may be available in space black, gray, rose gold, and white. A well-known leaker known as ShrimpApplePro on X published the rumor. That would be in contrast to the color options available for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, which include natural titanium, blue titanium, white titanium, and black titanium.
Overall, the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro appear to be modest improvements over the iPhone 15. Check out our entire preview of what we might expect from the iPhone 16 to learn more about the camera and other major features.
